This popular tour is a great way to experience the Downtown and surrounding areas of Coeur d'Alene in just about two hours.
After your Segway safety and orientation briefing we will head out on the neighborhood back-roads and check out some of the unique homes of CDA, from cottages and Craftsman style homes to the mansions along the Coeur d'Alene waterfront.
The tour will continue through Mc Euen Park along the Centennial Trail to the CDA Resort and Marina which has the world's longest floating Boardwalk. As we make our way along the shoreline through the City Park you can take in the vista views of Lake Coeur d'Alene. Once we arrive at Old Fort Sherman we will visit the Officer's Quarters, Magazine Room and the original Army Chapel built in 1880.
As we make our way back towards the downtown area we will make a brief stop to visit the Carousel, which was salvaged and restored from the original Playland Pier amusement park that existed in 1941 until it was destroyed by a fire in 1975.
While heading back towards our starting point, your guide will discuss some of Coeur d'Alene's history, including the Schee-Chu-Umsh Indians, the Military presence, the gold rush, timber industry, the country's largest forest fire of 1910, and the impact of the railroad and tourism that attracted people to this area. Along the way we will also share some of the unique buildings and architecture of the area, some of which dates back to the late 1800's.
This tour will cover about 9 miles over an approximately two hour period (including training time). The Tour is narrated by the Tour Guide using a wireless listening system. Your guide will take photographs and videos of you and the group during the tour and they will be made available for you to download at no additional charge. We offer this tour three times daily except for Sunday which has two afternoon tours. You must be at least 12 years old to participate and weigh at least 100 pounds, but not more than 260 pounds
